Trust God

Trust God

How many times will you quote Proverbs 3:5 before you actually begin to exercise it? This is a real question because it’s so easy to recite or quote a scripture and never implement it into our everyday lives’. God is so sovereign, so mighty, so great, so good but yet we put so many limitations on him and ourselves. When we do life without fully trusting God, we cap off our life-line. We may never see the full manifestation of what God has in store for us if we continue on in life trying to make things happen for ourselves. We sometimes get into this habit of saying we trust God but really we are trying to police him into doing what WE want at the time. We get weary when things don’t look a certain way so WE step in and try to make something happen. What ends up happening is that our trust in God doesn’t grow but begins to become non-existent and we begin to merely operate off of our own strength. This never was and never will be the will of God for our life. Our hearts are so deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9) and we should not be trusted when it comes to figuring out this thing called life. We simply cannot do this life alone.

God always wanted to be the focus. He always wanted to be our Father. He always wanted us to fully trust him whole-heartedly because through him we can operate at our best potential. The biggest hindrance most times when it relates to fully trusting God is self because we equate trusting God with trusting man. This is why it’s vital to die to our flesh daily. It’s necessary to have a renewed mind everyday as well. God is not like man! Isn’t that wonderful to know. So you can let the fear of letting the reigns go die today. We’ve all been through circumstances that have caused us to try to stay in control of our lives. However, it’s time to let God be God and fully take over if we truly love him.

Where do I start from here you might ask. Simply start by believing in his word. Once you actually believe what you’ve been reciting all of these years, allow the Holy Spirit to begin to shape and mold your mind and actions. Read and study scriptures on the sovereignty of God, cast old thoughts of manipulation and control down, and fully immerse yourself in Christ. Let him literally become your everything. It won’t be long before you find yourself figuratively sitting in the passenger seat of your life while God is steering you in the right direction with full control of the wheel.
