Who Are You & Who Ya Wit?!

Who Are You & Who Ya Wit?!

Christ, through the Holy Spirit, allows us to be sanctified, or separated. When you get filled with the Holy Spirit you are now engulfed in Christ and there ain’t no turning back. We now are running after Christ in full force, listening to our Heather Lindsey, Apostle Mike Hathaway, Dr. Matthew Stevenson, TD Jakes, and your local leader for edification. We find ourselves becoming new. But wait, here comes a hindrance in our forward movement. Our past.

Our past isn’t just a state of living, but it can be a state of being. It now goes from the physical state to the state of mind. Because of sanctification and the Holy Spirit now you are starting to see that your past mindsets or ways of being are interfering with your now and future. Here comes the establishment of true identity, and the tearing down of the old. When Christ adopts us as His children, He renews us and changes us. What we once thought about yourselves and how we thought even about friendships is transforming as we hunger for the more of the LORD. Here comes coming into the true knowledge of our identity.

This is such a beautiful state to be in, but a difficult one. It challenges your old thinking and challenges your image of God. Exactly what God came to do (bring a sword). In order to not allow the devil to pull you back into the old and allow God to push you further into the future, you must have & do the following:

 1. A deep hunger for the Word of God. Hungering for God, His voice and knowing His activity in the land.

2. Be a willing vessel to be transformed by the LORD. We cannot ask God to do something, and not be willing to be a partner in it. We have to be a hearer and doer of the Word.

3. Allow God to perfect your faith knowing you aren’t perfect. This is a tough one. Taking off the reigns of control and allowing God to take control over our lives.

4. Be intimate with God. Worshipping, studying and applying the Word to your everyday life. Spending time with God is the only way we can build faith, know His voice and understand & know what He is saying. We can only be in His will if we know His will.

While learning your identity, God does not say remove everything from you. He keeps the parts of you that are of Him, even parts of your personality. One thing I did desired was to not become a new a person, but another person. God wants us to have individuality. God says that we are new creations in Him, not another person. But asking God to purge me, sometimes I unintentionally asked Him to make me into another person but wanting Him to remove everything including that which was of Him. Purging isn’t for Him to make you another person, but to reveal to you who you really are.

Your identity is based in the truth that you are God’s child. We were all born in sin, but God allows us to give our lives to a Him and allows us to have Him live in us. We then become heirs with Him, sons & daughters. The sole truth that you are a child of Christ solidified that you don’t belong to your own mindset or vomit, you don’t belong to your old habits, you don’t belong to what people used to say about you. When you are established as a child, you no longer focused on belonging in a carnal state, but you know you rest assured knowing that you always belong because He has established you. You learn new things about yourself daily so remember your walk with Christ is a process and it’s so rewarding!

Galatians 4:7 therefore you are no longer slaves, but sons, if a son then also an heir through God.

Psalm 139: 13, 17-18 for you formed my innermost parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb; how precious are your thoughts to me, oh God! How vast are the sum of them! If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake I’m still with You.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future.
