Giving Up Isn’t An Option! Fighting For Your Future!
So many times I find myself in a place of saying this is the END, but, it’s just the place in which I decided to QUIT! The truth of the matter is, in every fight, there’s a title for a winner & a loser but the loss isn’t really counted until it’s over. Have you ever sat and watched a boxing match; they go round after round getting knocked down but getting back up it’s like they NEVER give up. So many times, I’ve heard the statement ‘that you can lose the battle but win the war’ you see I’ve found that to be true in my personal life, it’s like there's been many Monday mornings the alarm goes off at 5:45 a.m. and I’m like “DARN”! It’s that time already. I instantly hit the snooze button, pull the cover over my head & try to go right back to sleep; “like I quit, this is going to be a horrible week, OMG what have I signed up for, is there a reset button?” You get the point!
I get up, look in the mirror, still tired & tell myself that this is the point of reset, GOD chose me, he actually gave me a chance to do something today that I may have overlooked yesterday. Then before you know I’m in the world making progress, putting a smile on someone’s’ face, and before you know it the Monday blues is gone & Tuesday rolls around I’m in a better head space. By Wednesday, I’m like it’s “hump day”, then Thursday comes rolling in, & before you know it I’ve defeated my week by rejoicing in Friday. I didn’t let one bad thought take control of what now is a victory. That’s how everything in your life should be.
. . .
The point that I believe a lot of us miss is that one ‘NO’ from just one person sets you up for 7 billion more possibilities of a “YES”. Who cares about that the one person didn’t see your vision, didn’t agree to finance the deal, shortchanged you on love, or whatever obstacle that caused you to feel mislead. I’ve learned to appreciate those that didn’t fit in my wagon or decided to jump out when they did. That just cut all the extra work of sifting through dead weight, believing false promises and being let down. Along the way who cares that the journey got lonely, it just creates room for those that were willing to invest in your vision or put forth the effort to help you. Don’t you dare quit because of your circumstances, your now, or even lack of resources you know what you should do in those times, position yourself to ‘CREATE MORE’ of the life that you desire to have for yourself in the long run.
I was riding in my car one day on my way home from work and ‘ Can’t Give Up Now’ by Mary Mary came on the radio. The specific set of lyrics that stood out to me were; “I just can't give up now, I've come too far from where I started from, NOBODY told me, the road would be easy, and I don't believe he’s brought me this far, to leave me.” Those words right there have SO MUCH fuel to keep going even when you feel defeated, it’s like NO MATTER WHAT YOU MUST FINISH for YOURSELF, that’s YOUR GOAL, YOUR DREAM, YOUR FUTURE, that’s right IT’S FOR YOU! There’s a scripture that comes to mind it’s found in Philippians 4:13 & it states, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” which is a constant reminder to ENJOY THE JOURNEY & while you’re on it have a genuine appreciation for it, it’s like God is saying ‘Do you trust me’? Unfortunately, in our world today we think that everything should be like a microwave ‘INSTANT’ so we’ve adapted this HURRY UP mentality & the moment things get rough or adversity comes we want to QUIT or forfeit our PURPOSE, the very reason we started is at stake! Everything must be rushed, but for one moment if I could have you think back to the last time that you were on a road trip. You’re in the car on the highway with your friends, the music is blasting everyone is enjoying themselves, you guys are halfway to your destination and halfway from home & at this point there’s nothing but cornfields, cattle & windmills, in your mind you’re like; “we need to get there right”. But you’ve forfeited the luxury of enjoying that trip, then hours later you see the big city ahead of you, your eyes light up, all 32 of your teeth are showing, & you’re taking pictures. Looking at the completion of the journey you set out to conquer, think about it like this going to that place was a process just like arriving at success in your personal life. Where would you be had you not been faced with obstacles, fallouts, misfortunes, heartbreak, disappointment & everything else life had to offer on the way there. On this journey you must learn to take the good with the bad even though it will breed some scars, tears, sleepless nights & cost tons of money—YOU HAVE TO GET TO THE FINISH LINE.
Look, some of the people that paved the way for us like Rosa Parks even though it may have caused her temporary pain, and everybody didn’t stand with her she stood for what she believed in and eventually she became a successful role model that played a huge role in helping people begin to believe. Then look at Oprah, she’s now one of the wealthiest and well-respected women in the world because she took the lemons life gave her, added a little sugar and made lemonade out of it. So even when you don’t see the product think of your purpose which circles back to why you even started, the plan is greater than the pain and there’s a reward in the production. I won’t give which means you can’t either…fight for your future!
